The Ball Drop Times Square 

New Years Eve 

Start the New Year in New York City and watch the ball drop! Each year, millions of people from around the world gather in Times Square to watch a glitzy ball descend a flagpole to celebrate the beginning of a new year. 

NYC is one of my favourite states I have visited. It has so much to offer from Broadway shows, site seeing, endless bars and restaurants and fun activities to keep you occupied throughout your trip.

Venice Carnevale 

3rd-13th February 2024 

The Venice Carnevale began in 1162 and is the most significant event in the city in celebration of the Venice Republic’s victory over its enemy. 

The main feature of the Carnevale has always been the elaborateness of its costumes and masks, allowing the Venetians to mask their identity and remove any social differences, bringing everyone together.

March

St Patricks Day 

Sunday 17th March 2024 

St Patrick’s Day observes the patron saint of Ireland. It has become a big celebration over the years and is a great time to be in Ireland to celebrate Irish culture.

During this celebration, the capital city, Dublin, is the place to be, where you can watch parades, enjoy great food, live music, and many pub crawls if you can keep up with the Irish!

April

Cherry Blossom Season

Month of April  

What better time to visit the futuristic city of Tokyo and the traditional city of Kyoto than during the cherry blossom season? 

Visiting Japan any time of year will give you a fantastic experience, however  the celebration of the Sakura flower blooms in April.

During this time, the Japanese  have a custom called hanami, which translates to watching blossoms, where they enjoy eating, drinking, and barbecuing under the beautiful pink backdrop of the cherry blossoms.

New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival 

26th April-5th May 2024 

The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival is an annual local music and culture festival. You can expect street performances, extensive food booths selling local foods, and craft vendors selling paintings, jewelry, and more.

The Inti Raymi

24th June 2024

The Inti Raymi is also known as the festival of the Sun and was the largest and most significant festival in the Inca Empire. Today, the festival is celebrated on the 24th of June every year in Cusco, Peru hosting many activities and performances in the Plaza of Arms, Sacsayhuaman, and Coricancha complex.

July

Gion Matsuri 

Month Of July 

Taking place once a year in July, the Gion Matsuri Festival in Kyoto is one of the biggest in Japan and turns the traditional city into a big party for the whole month of July. 

You can expect street food vendors selling delicious foods and beer and parades with plushly decorated floats. Be sure to come dressed in your colorful Yukata robe!

Notting Hill Carnival

24th – 26th August 2024

Notting Hill Carnival is an annual Caribbean Carnival event that has been taking place in London since 1966 in the Notting Hill area.

If you have yet to experience this chaotic street party, add it to your 2024 calendar. 

Us Caribbeans know how to party so that you can celebrate and share the Caribbean culture through music, food, and dance.

La Mercè

20th and 24th September 2024 

Barcelona is a great city to travel to for good food, architecture, and culture. So if you are travelling to Barcelona between the 20th and 24th of September, you can witness the colourful festival of La Mercè.

La Mercè is an annual festival celebrated since the Middle Ages to honor the patron saint of Barcelona. A vital feature of this festival is the fire run.

Oktobefest 

21ST SEPT-6TH OCT 

Oktoberfest is held in Munich, Germany, and attracts over 6 million people yearly. Due to the volume of people, it is the world’s largest Volksfest. It features a beer festival and travelling carnival, so dress in your folk costume and enjoy drinking, dancing, games, rides, parades, and concerts. 

November

Diwali 

1st November 2024 

Start a new venture in    India with the festival Diwali. Also known as the festival of lights, it represents new beginnings and the victory of good over evil and light over darkness.

It’s a 5-day celebration for all to enjoy! Dress in your finest clothes, take in the colourful surroundings, indulge in mouthwatering cuisine, and enjoy the many fireworks. India is a country you will never be bored in!

The Alsace region in France is known as the capital of Christmas. 

As the Alsace region borders Germany, Germany significantly influences the culture, making sense why it is a Christmas capital, giving you the German market feel.
